Layne Bruce

Layne has served executive director of the Mississippi Press Association and secretary of the Mississippi Press Foundation since 2007. MPA is the trade association for 100 newspapers and digital media outlets in the state.

He previously spent 15 years as a reporter, editor, and publisher for newspapers in Mississippi and Kentucky.

His a past president of the Mississippi Society of Association Executives and currently serves as clerk of Newspaper Association Managers, Inc., a coalition of trade groups serving newspaper media in the United States and Canada.

He is a founding member of the advisory board for the Roy Howard Community Journalism Center at the University of Southern Mississippi. Earlier this year he was named to the advisory committee of Press Forward Mississippi, an affiliate of the national Press Forward initiative, a movement to strengthen communities by reinvigorating local news.
