Derrick Harriell
Derrick Harriell is a Milwaukee-born poet, fiction writer, professor, and educator. He is a professor of English at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, where he earned his B.A. and Ph.D. His poetry explores Black life, Milwaukee, music, hip-hop, and community. His books include Cotton, Ropes, Stripper in Wonderland, and Come Kingdom. In 2026, he co-authored The Voice in My Head Is God with Grammy Award-winning rapper 2 Chainz, which became a New York Times bestseller.
