Evan Peacock

Evan Peacock is an author, archaeologist, and long-time freshwater fishing enthusiast who grew up in the hill country of north-central Mississippi. He holds a bachelor's degree in Anthropology from Mississippi State University and a master's and doctorate in Archaeology from the University of Sheffield, England. He retired as Professor Emeritus of Anthropology from Mississippi State University in 2018. With over one hundred scientific works to his credit, Evan also has written a variety of works for the public in venues such as Mississippi Outdoors, Forest Perspectives, Hobo Pancakes, Westward Quarterly, and The Literary Hatchet. His books Mississippi Archaeology Q & A (University Press of Mississippi) and Kudzu on the Ivory Tower (Borgo Publishing) have received wide acclaim. Evan currently lives in Tupelo, Mississippi with his wife Josie, three spoiled dogs, and a lovely, refurbished 1970 Duracraft boat, the Josephine.
