Dr. Sarah Mangrum

Dr. Sarah Mangrum is an Assistant Teaching Professor in the School of Library and Information Science (SLIS) at The University of Southern Mississippi. Before joining the faculty, Dr. Mangrum served as an academic librarian at USM, where she developed firsthand experience supporting students, faculty, and the university community. At SLIS, Dr. Mangrum teaches courses in children's and young adult literature, helping future library and information professionals connect readers with high-quality materials for young people. Her teaching emphasizes the importance of inclusive collections, reader engagement, and the enduring role of literature in intellectual, social, and emotional development. Dr. Mangrum is also an active member of the Fay B. Kaigler Children's Book Festival Steering Committee. Her involvement with the festival spans more than 15 years, reflecting a sustained dedication to children's literature, authors and illustrators, and the educators, librarians, and readers who make up its vibrant community.
