Dr. Byron D'Andra Orey
Dr. Orey is a professor of political science at Jackson State University and the 2024 President of the Southern Political Science Association. His research centers on race, politics, and social justice, with a focus on Black trauma, systemic racism, and police reform. A former W.K. Kellogg Fellow, Dr. Orey has lectured at institutions including Oxford, Yale, and Princeton, and has authored over 30 scholarly publications. He has received $2.5 million in research support and is a regular political analyst for NBC affiliate WLBT, with appearances on CNN, MSNBC, and PBS.
