Chris Danielson

Chris Danielson is a historian specializing in the Civil Rights Movement. He received his PhD in American history from the University of Mississippi in 2006, and was a Fulbright Scholar in Hungary in 2024, where he taught a class on the Cold War and race at the University of Pecs. While there, he gave invited talks at the Free University of Berlin, the University of Szeged in Hungary, and West University in Romania. He also previously taught in New Zealand at the University of Otago. His books on Mississippi include After Freedom Summer: How Race Realigned Mississippi Politics, 1965-1986, which chronicles the effects of the Voting Rights Act, and his latest book, Brother Outsider, Brother Insider: A Political Biography of Lawrence Guyot, Jr., a biography of the head of the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party. He has also published The Color of Politics: Racism in the American Political Arena Today. He currently resides in Butte, Montana.
