Beowulf Sheehan

Beowulf Sheehan is a New-York based photographer of figures in the arts and humanities. To date, he's photographed better than 1,000 writers from more than 60 countries. His work has been published in the likes of Elle, Esquire, The New Yorker, Time, Vanity Fair, and Vogue and exhibited at the Museum of the City of New York, Dostoevsky Museum (Saint Petersburg, Russia), International Center of Photography, and New-York Historical Society. Among the permanent collections including Sheehan's photographs are those of the American Academy of Arts and Letters, Museum of Chinese in America, and Smithsonian National Museum of African American History and Culture. His first book Author: The Portraits of Beowulf Sheehan, foreword by Salman Rushdie, was a collection of portraits of 200 writers from 35 countries and partial fundraiser for the National Book Foundation. The Father of the Man: The Last Author Portrait Sitting with Cormac McCarthy is his second book. Beowulf Sheehan is the proud son of an immigrant and translator, grandson of a poet and photographer, and cousin, first cousin once removed, and great-great-nephew of authors.
