The writings of Sherye Green reflect her journey of faith and explore the heart’s inner landscape. An author, singer, and speaker, Sherye has long been intrigued by the power of words to shape people’s lives. A former Miss Mississippi, Sherye has enjoyed two careers—in business and education.
A collaboration with World War II survivor Mildred Schindler Janzen to write her memoir, Surviving Hitler, Evading Stalin: One Woman’s Remarkable Escape from Nazi Germany, led to Sherye’s selection as the co-recipient of the 2021 Mississippi Author of the Year Award for Nonfiction, an honor she shares with Mildred. An Education Edition and a Faith-Based Edition of the book have also been released. Two other award-winning memoirs, Mission Vigilant: A Mother’s Crusade to Stem the Tide of Veteran Suicide and Beyond the Green Widow: Consequences of the Piney Woods Creek Murders of 1921, have been written by her. Additionally, Sherye has authored a collection of devotional essays titled Tending the Garden of My Heart: Reflections on Cultivating a Life of Faith. She has also written two inspirational novels, Abandon Not My Soul and Through a Dark Valley, the first two books in The Timothy House Chronicles series. The final book of the trilogy, Higher Ground, is scheduled for release in the fall of 2025.
A member of the American Christian Fiction Writers and the Southern Christian Writers,
Sherye’s writings have also received additional distinctions, including the Illumination Book Awards, the International Book Awards, National Indie Excellence Awards, the Southern Christian Writers Notable Book Awards, and the Sunbury Press SUNNY Awards.
One of Sherye’s greatest joys is to come alongside others who may not be writers but have compelling stories and do for them what they cannot do for themselves—write a book that accurately portrays their life experiences and authentically captures their character and voice. Sherye is passionate about research, a critical component of writing both fiction and nonfiction. Utilizing skills honed many years ago while writing curriculum for her students in the classroom, she continues to use this expertise to enhance and shape her many book projects.
Sherye and her husband make their home in Mississippi.
