Ra’Shad “The Blues Kid” McGill
Ra’Shad the Blues Kid, born in Laurel, MS, blends blues, soul, and Southern storytelling. Influenced by mentors like L.C. Ulmer and his church roots, Ra’Shad first sang publicly in 2011 and released Shake It and Country Soul in 2017. His 2021 albums, Southern Side of Soul and Bluz Me, included collaborations with J Wonn, Stevie J, and Napoleon Demps. He’s known for authentic songwriting and genre-crossing innovation. He placed 2nd at the 2025 International Blues Challenge and has been featured in Living Blues Magazine, Blues Festival Guide, and Pulse Magazine. He’s also a member of the Alabama Blues Hall of Fame and Ground Zero Blues Club.
