Fabian Nelson

Representative Fabian Nelson is a trailblazing public servant, entrepreneur, and advocate for equity and opportunity in Mississippi. Elected in 2023 to represent House District 66-which includes South Jackson, Byram, Terry, Raymond, and Utica.

Growing up in Yazoo City, Mississippi, Rep. Nelson gained firsthand insight into the challenges facing marginalized communities. This experience shaped his deep commitment to strong, compassionate leadership that delivers tangible results for the people of Mississippi. He coined the phrase "Reliable Representation" on the campaign trail-a guiding principle he upholds every day through his work in the Capitol and in his community.

A lifelong learner, Rep. Nelson holds degrees from Harvard Kennedy School, American Public University, Jackson State University, and Holmes Community College. His academic achievements include an MBA with a concentration in Entrepreneurship, a B.S. in Biology, an A.A. in Business Administration, and a certificate in State and Local Government. He is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Administration at Jackson State University, further deepening his commitment to evidence-based leadership and impactful governance.

In the Mississippi House of Representatives, Rep. Nelson serves on the Housing, Technology, Military Affairs, and Judiciary B Committees. In his first session, he authored or co-authored over 50 bills, including legislation that helped secure a $10 billion capital investment from Amazon-the largest in Mississippi's history. He also championed HB 1137, which expanded access to Narcan to combat the state's opioid crisis and passed with unanimous bipartisan support.
