Carla Falkner

Carla joined the Mississippi Humanities Council in 2021 as Project Coordinator for the Prison Education program. A native Texan, she moved to Mississippi in 1979 to attend the University of Mississippi, where she received her M.A. in history. After a 30-year career as a history instructor and academic division head at Northeast Mississippi Community College, she retired as an educator in 2019. Her work with MHC today includes coordinating sixteen prison book clubs in twelve facilities with over 350 active members. She lives in Tupelo, Mississippi, with her husband, Patrick.
