Max's stories have appeared in Black Warrior Review, Cheap Pop, SmokeLong Quarterly, and Southern Humanities Review. He teaches literature and fiction at the University of Mississippi and is the recipient of the 2025 Mississippi Institute of Arts & Letters Award in Fiction for his story collection What Doesn't Kill You Opens Your Heart (Cool Dog Sound, 2024).
